JAMMU, February 2: Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) organizes a webinar on “ICT Enable Learning through Spoken Tutorial Project of IIT Bombay” on 2nd February 2022 for all the students of the 7th semester studying in different departments of YCET.
MOOC refers to an online course that allows users from across the world to learn the same material, without prerequisites, in a flexible learning environment. MOOCs which is an abbreviation of the massive open online course, offer free education in an online environment, with no limit on class size.
The session began with a welcome address by Er. Dinesh Gupta, Dean Academics, and Central Coordinator Spoken Tutorial Project of IIT Bombay and President IIC Cell. The resource person for the session was Er. Tanvir Singh is a Training Manager of IIT Bombay for Spoken Tutorial Program fostering IT Literacy through Open Source Technology under National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), Ministry of Education, Government of India, and Founder President of Green ThinkerZ advocating United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) 2030. He started the session with the need and rise of MOOCs. MOOCs are free and open-source software as students can learn any code at any time and can interact with the trainer i.e it is a learner-led Environment. He further explained the important Quadrants to develop MOOCs i.e. Video tutorials, E-content, assessment, and discussion. MOOCs are a relatively new development in education, representing a trend towards affordable education available for the masses, in a collaborative, connected space, with traditional educational materials, like lecture slides and videos, supplemented with interactive elements. The students were fortunate to have got the chance to attend this session for increasing their knowledge and creative extravagance along with the expert. The guests remained highly commemorative of the efforts for organizing the session.
The session was attended by all the HODs and departmental Coordinators of all the departments.
